‘A Garden Affair’

Have you longed to have some herbs by the kitchen door, or to grow that perfect heirloom tomato, or try a new variety of spicy pepper but don’t know how or where to find the seed?  Or maybe you want to plant a rain garden, become a BayWise gardener, or learn how to use nature to combat garden pests instead of Agent-Orang-ing the landscape at the first sign of a bug. Maybe you just want to ask some experienced gardeners a few key questions and while you’re at it, introduce the next generation to the joys and rewards of gardening. Have we got the event for you and IT IS FREE!

In addition to mingling with a group of passionate and knowledgeable gardeners, you can buy plants and salad boxes (as seen on Martha Stewart with University of Maryland’s Jon Traunfeld), find a bargain at the Green Elephant Sale, and be on the way to creating a beautiful garden that is truly a benefit to you and to the environment.  Door prizes include a rain barrel and a salad box.

Mark your calendar and plan to attend the 3rd annual Garden Affair sponsored by the Queen Anne’s County Master Gardeners program.  It will be held at the library in historic Centreville, MD on Saturday May 22, 10AM-2PM – rain or shine.  Refreshments will be provided by the members of our county 4H club.  Bring the whole family for face painting, scavenger and treasure hunts, crafts, interactive children’s exhibits, and more.  Docents will also be available to provide tours of historic Wright’s Chance and Tucker House. It promises to be a great day for visitors of all ages!
