Bay Music Festival Schedule for June 14

The Upper Shore’s traditional music event for the summer takes place at the Queen Anne’s County 4-H Park on June 14, 2008. This will be the 27th year for the Centreville Lions Club’s Bay Music Festival as five bands take the stage to raise funds for the world famous Wilmer Eye Institute and the civic club’s local charities as it observes its 60th year of community service.

Gates open at the park just outside Centreville at 2 p.m., and the downbeat for the first performance is at 3 p.m. with the Chester River Runoff setting the mood for the day. The second set at 4:15 p.m.  features the one band that has appeared every year, the local favorites Bird Dog and the Road Kings.

Another local favorite, Tranzfusion, welcomed at most of the past year’s festivals, will take the stage at 5:45 p.m. Due for applause beginning at 7:10 p.m. on the park stage will be the The Tommy Lepson Band, a blues band from the Washington, D.C. area. A fitting climax and a musical aggregation that has performed around the world, The Paul Reed Smith Band will set the downbeat at 8:30p.m.

A special added attraction just before the last set will be a raffle for a signed PRS SE Custom guitar. One of the world’s best-known guitar makers, Paul Reed Smith has his headquarters on the Kent Island in Queen Anne’s County.

Music fans also will be welcoming back to the microphone as MC the legendary Damian Einstein.

Co-sponsored by Coors Light, the musical treat has advance tickets on sale for just $16, with a $20 fee at the gate on June 14. Children under 12 will be admitted free with a paying adult. The tree-shaded park has plenty of picnic tables and covered shelter as the show goes on rain or shine. There will be plenty to eat with Red Hot & Blue Barbeque, open pit roast beef, hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, ice cream, sodas, and ice cold beer. Please no pets, alcohol or coolers. Free parking is available right on the fairgrounds, and lawn chairs are welcome. Moon bounce and slide will be set up for children.

Tickets are on sale at PNC Bank, Centreville National Bank, Draper’s Liquors in Centreville, The Compleat Bookseller in Chestertown, Denton Music Gallery in Denton, Blockbuster Video in Stevensville, Believe in Music in Easton Plaza, and Accousticopia on West Street near Church Circle in Annapolis.
