Bennett Wayne Haley, a 17-year-old Easton lacrosse player, died last weekend at University of Maryland’s Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after a week of treatment following an accident on March 6 on Glebe Road when his car hit a tree. Haley was a junior honor-roll student at Easton High School and a starter on the varsity boys’ lacrosse team. Haley sustained a head injury and fractured legs, collarbone and neck in the accident and had surgery to fix internal bleeding. The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office said the teen was operating a 2001 BMW on Glebe Road when the car went off the road and struck the tree. Haley was thrown from the car just before it burst into flames.
