Former Governor Gets Bridge Named After Him

The MD 404 Bridge over the Choptank River has now been named for former Maryland Governor Harry Hughes. Governor Martin O’Malley attended the dedication ceremony. Hughes was the state’s first Secretary of Transportation in the 70s and a two-term governor in the 80s. Hughes was instrumental in getting the 404 bridge, now known as The Harry R. Hughes Bridge, built in the first place.
