Shore Health System Announces New Board Members and Officers

At its September meeting, the Shore Health System board of directors announced its new slate of officers and welcomed four new members.

John Dillon continues to chair the board. Other officers continuing their terms are Richard Loeffler and Charles Lea, Jr., vice chair; Stuart Bounds, PhD, secretary; and Phyllis Matthai, assistant secretary. New board member Martha Russell replaces Joseph Anthony as treasurer. Walter Zajac, chief financial officer for Shore Health System, is assistant treasurer.

In addition to Russell, other new members joining the board are Keith McMahan, Jack Stoltz and Robert Chrencik.

Martha Russell of Easton is tax director for CBIZ Beatty Satchell, LLC. A certified public accountant, she holds master’s degrees in taxation and accounting from Georgia State University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Duke University. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants and the Talbot Country Club.

Keith McMahan of Federalsburg is chairman of Tri-Gas & Oil Co., Inc. His community involvement includes board membership for the Memorial Hospital Foundation, Provident State Bank, Community Bank Mortgage Company and the Mid-Shore Community Foundation. He is past chair of the National Propane Gas Association and an active member of many industry associations.

Jack Stoltz of Royal Oak is chairman emeritus of Stoltz Real Estate Partners. A graduate of the University of Delaware, he is a certified real estate broker with licenses to operate in Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum board of directors.

Robert A. Chrencik, who is also interim President and CEO for the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), is well known as a key leader in the growth of UMMS since it was created in 1984 as a private, non-profit organization. Since 1999, he has served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of UMMS. Chrencik earned a bachelor of science degree from Bucknell University and an MBA from Loyola College in Maryland. He has served as president of the Maryland chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and serves on the financial policy committee of the Maryland Hospital Association. He is on the boards of Kernan Hospital and University Specialty Hospital and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants

On behalf of the board, John Dillon says, “I express my gratitude to Joe Anthony for the many contributions he has made to the Shore Health System board of directors during his tenure as treasurer. I also thank Chris Spurry, another long-term board member, for his years of committed service.”

Dillon adds, “The board is pleased that our new members have agreed to lend us their expertise and community perspective as we move forward with our commitment to delivering quality health care while planning to meet the growing demands of the Mid-Shore region.”
