Slot Talk Panel Discussion

An opportunity to learn more about the upcoming slots referendum on the ballot for the November 4th election will take place on Wednesday, October 22, at 7:00 p.m. at the Historical Society of Talbot County Auditorium, 22 S. Washington Street, Easton.

There will be a bipartisan panel discussion about the proposal to bring in 15,000 slot machines to Maryland by changing the Maryland State Constitution if voters choose to do so. The Honorable Peter Franchot, State Comptroller, and the Honorable Wayne Gilchrest, U.S. House of Representatives, District 1, will present their views on this important issue. Ms. JoAnn Asparagus will be the moderator for the panel discussion. The audience will be given an opportunity to ask questions at the end of their discussion. The panel discussion is sponsored by Marylanders United to STOP SLOTS and the League of Women Voters of the Mid-Shore.

Franchot and Gilchrest will be presenting facts on this statewide issue, as well as some of the potential economic, political and social consequences. The slots referendum calls for establishing five slot facilities around the state in Worcester and Cecil counties on the Eastern Shore, Anne Arundel and Allegany counties and in Baltimore City.
