Tidewater Chamber Singers Go To The Movies

Since the very first films hit the silver screen, music has been a very important part of Hollywood. In recent years the use of choral music in movies has increased. The Tidewater Chamber Singers, formerly Bach To The Future, and under the direction of Kevin W. Thomas, will offer a concert of choral music and choral arrangements of songs used in movies of the past 50 years. The concert, entitled Songs of the American Cinema, will feature popular and classical selections that have been used by movie makers, as well as music composed specifically for the movies. Selections will be borrowed from such blockbusters as Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Cold Mountain, Chariots of Fire, Superman, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, just to name a few.

The concert will be presented Saturday, November 1, 2008, 8:00 p.m. at the Academy Art Museum in Easton and Sunday, November 2, 2008, 2:30 p.m. at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in St. Michaels. For tickets and information call 1-888-752-0023, email tidewatercs@gmail.com or go towww.tidewaterchambersingers.org. Advance tickets are $12.00 and tickets at the door are $15.00. Students are free with ID. Tickets are also available at Crackerjacks in Easton and at the St. Michaels Candy Co. in St. Michaels.

Join us for this concert and find yourself tapping your toe and singing along to music that has enhanced the movies we have enjoyed over the years.

These concerts are funded in part by grants received from the Talbot County Arts Council and the Maryland State Arts Council, an agency funded by the State of Maryland and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency which believes a great nation deserves great art.
