Summer Reading Program
Beginning on Good Neighbor Day (June 7) and running all summer long, children and teens can win great prizes as they discover the joys of summer reading. Prizes include tickets to Baltimore Orioles baseball games! Note: We are especially grateful to the Friends of the Library for sponsoring many of our summer reading prizes.

First Step Storytime
Tuesdays, June 9 – July 14, 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. for children under 2 with an adult,
10:45 – 11:30 a.m. for 2 – 3 year olds with an adult.

Preschool Storytime
Wednesdays, June 10, 17, and 24, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. for 3 – 5 year olds who have not attended kindergarten. No adult required in the program, though one must remain in the library.

Great Artists!
Mondays, June 15 and 29, 10:30 – 11:45 a.m. Art activities, based on the style of famous artists, for children entering grades 1 – 5.

Create Your Own Hardware Jewelry
Tuesday, June 16, 2:00 p.m., for children 10 and up.

Exploring Your Environment through Ecosystems and Soils
Wednesday, June 17, 2:00 – 3:15 p.m., for 8 – 13 year olds. For kids who like to get their hands dirty and have fun, this is a chance to identify plants and animals that live in the soil. Presented by the University of Maryland Extension-Talbot County 4H program.

What’s the Matter? Chemistry with Foam, Fizz, and Flash!
Thursday, June 18, 10:00 a.m., recommended for ages 5 and up. Free tickets available June 11—no pre-registration required. Presented by the Maryland Science Center.

Magic ’n Fun with Magician John Donaldson
Monday, June 22, 11:00 a.m. Free tickets available June 15—no pre-registration required.

Papermaking with Diana Hastings (for children 10 and up)
Note: This a two-day program. To register, children must be available to attend both days.

Boys Only Book Group with Bill Peak
Wednesday, June 24, noon – 1:00 p.m., for boys 8 – 10 years old. Bring a favorite book or two and your lunch. The library will supply dessert and beverages.

Teen Arts and Crafts
Monday, June 29, 2:00 – 3:15 p.m., for artists entering grades 6 – 12.

Read to Therapy Dogs
Bring a book (or choose a library book) and read for 15 minutes to a therapy dog.
Tuesday, June 30, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. (pre-register for a 15-minute session), for 6 – 12 year olds.

Play Book Bingo this summer at the library! Pick up a bingo card at the library and begin to play. Each “Bingo!” you achieve makes you eligible for weekly drawings and a grand prize at the end of the summer. Also, special this summer: Write your own book review and have it posted in the library!

Stitching Hour
Monday, June 8, 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. Bring projects in progress (sewing, knitting, cross-stitch, what-have-you). Limited instruction available for beginners and newcomers.

The Life and Mysterious Death of John Wilkes Booth
Monday, June 22, 6:00 p.m. The head of the Enoch Pratt Library’s Maryland Department, Jeff Korman, discusses Lincoln’s assassination and its aftermath, including the theory that Booth might have escaped his pursuers and lived to see the 20th Century. A lecture for audiences of all ages, Korman’s presentation includes photographs and source materials related to the life and death of America’s most notorious assassin.

Basic Computer Class
