When looking for that special gift, you can go online or you could drive over the bridge to the mall, but Kent Island offers something new that you won’t find anywhere else – a place to shop that offers a personal touch, unique items and a way of giving back to the community.
The Kent Island Federation of Arts’ newly opened Gift Shop features the work of over 20 creative artisans from the Chesapeake region. You will find hand-crafted jewelry, fiber art, gourd birdhouses, tote bags and clay works to name just a few. Each work of art is hand-crafted and produced by KIFA members who have been juried into the shop. All pieces are moderately priced from $7.50 to $100, 25% of which is retained by KIFA as a fund raiser.
Founded in 1964, the Kent Island Federation of Arts will soon be celebrating its 50th Anniversary during 2013. They have continued to grow, offering art classes, workshops, lectures and outstanding monthly exhibits and programs such as the upcoming 3rd Annual Gardens By The Sea Tour, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, June 9 and 10.
The KIFA Gallery and Gift Shop, located at 405 Main Street in Stevensville, is opened Wednesday through Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. For more information call 410-643-7424 or go to www.kifa.us
