AAUW Book Sale

The AAUW (American Association of University Women) will hold a used book sale on Friday, October 29th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday, October 30th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Christ Episcopal Church parish house at Harrison and South Sts in Easton, MD. In conjunction with the book sale, we will also be conducting a gently used costume jewelry sale.

If you would like to donate books, DVDs, or CDs to the sale, please bring them to the Christ Church parish house on Thursday, October 28th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Please do not leave books prior to that date. We can not accept magazines, National Geographic’s or text books. Any jewelry donation can be made by calling Lee Schatz at 410-770-3389 prior to November 5th.

The monies raised will support the Education Foundation and the Legal Advocacy Fund of the Association. For more information contact Phyllis Dell at 410-822-7902.

AAUW to Present Program on Politicization of the Supreme Court

The October 18th meeting of the Easton Branch of AAUW (American Association of University Women) will feature James Merle Carter, Attorney. His subject is, “Politicization of the Supreme Court, an unflattering view.” Attendees will be provided a written outline of Jim’s talk and will have an opportunity to ask questions following his forty-five minute presentation. The meeting will be held at the Eastern Shore Hospital Center, 5262 Woods Road, Cambridge, MD at 7:00 PM.

Jim Carter was a member of the Virginia and Pennsylvania Bars for many years and recently qualified for the Maryland Bar. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia Law School where he achieved honors by induction into the Order of the Coif and the Raven Society; was an editor of the Virginia Law Review; editor of the Virginia Reading Guide and Dean’s assistant in Constitutional Law.

Jim’s career includes three appearances before the Supreme Court as well as oral arguments before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania; the Third, Sixth and Seventh United States Courts of Appeals and various United States District Courts and State Courts.
