Through May 29, 2010:  “Catching Shadows: Tintype Portraits and Recorded Voices of 21st Century Native Americans Living on Maryland’s Eastern Shore”
This fascinating portrait study of contemporary American Indians using traditional tintype photography includes interviews by Dykeman that explore tribal traditions and everyday life. View and listen through May 29. It is presented by the Arts Council and is supported by the Maryland State Arts Council’s Maryland Traditions grant, the Maryland Humanities Council and the Chaney Foundation. May 10: Boot Camp: A five-week workout with Pam Thaxton and Mary Messick that will have you in great shape for the summer. 5:30 to 6:30 a.m., $99 per student. May 15: Jazz Concert Featuring Dick Morgan: Don’t miss this enchanting night of jazz with legendary pianist Dick Morgan. Morgan is joined by Steve Abshire on guitar, David Einhorn on stand up base and Bartell Knox on drums. Held at the Centre for the Arts, 206 S. May 17: QAC Arts Council Annual Dinner: This year’s annual dinner will be held at Prospect Bay Country Club beginning with cocktails at 6:00pm followed by dinner at 7:00pm. May 30: Crop Club. Join paper crafter Cathy Downes on the last Sunday of each month at 12:30 p.m. having fun and making progress on your memories with unique album designs. June 10:  Thursdays in the Park:  7-9 PM, Chesapeake Community Band at Millstream Park, Centreville, MD. Free. QAC Arts Council invites the public to enjoy an evening of American standards and more with this great local band. Rain or shine. June 19: Art of the Deals: 9am-1pm. Community wide event featuring artists, a farmers market, music, demonstrations and information tables on the Courthouse Green.  Downtown merchants will have specials and sidewalk sales. Interested artists and civic groups should call the Arts Council about renting a table.

June 24:  Thursdays in the Park. 7-9 PM: The Unified Jazz Ensemble (UJE).   QAC Arts Council invites the public to enjoy an evening of exceptional jazz music with this great band at the Kent Manor Inn, Stevensville, MD. June 26: Motown Madness Dance Party with championship dancer Amanda Showell. Fundraiser for the Queen Anne County Arts Council. Come dance the night away to your favorite tunes from the motown era along with ballroom and Latin dance music. 7:00-7:30pm Single time swing lesson. 7:30-10:30pm Dance party. Cash bar.
