Bank Robbery

Sheriff R. Gary Hofmann reports that on August 24, 2010 at approximately 2pm, the Office of the Sheriff for Queen Anne’s County responded to the M&T Bank at the Kent Towne Market in Chester for a report of a bank robbery.  The Office of the Sheriff responded with uniform patrol personnel, the Criminal Investigations Unit and the Queen Anne’s County Drug Task Force.

An initial investigation revealed that at 2:08pm on August 24, 2010 an African American male entered the M&T Bank wearing a black #24 Jeff Gordon baseball cap, a dark colored T-shirt with light colored trim, dark colored pants and blue tennis shoes.  The suspect presented the teller with a note demanding money.  The teller surrendered a quantity of US currency to the suspect whom then fled from the bank on foot.  The suspect was last seen traveling on foot west from the M&T Bank in the direction of the Blockbuster video store located next to the bank.  No one was injured during the incident.

The Maryland State Police Crime Lab arrived on location and assisted with the processing of the scene.  A search of the area was conducted by Office of the Sheriff Patrol personnel and assisted by the Maryland State Police and the Maryland Transportation Authority Police.

Sheriff Hofmann requests that anyone with information pertaining to this incident please contact D/Cpl. Stephen Stouffer of the Criminal Investigations Unit or the Metro Crime Stoppers.  This case remains open for continued investigation.
