The Talbot County Commission on Aging has issued a call for nominations for this year’s Outstanding Talbot County Senior Awards, according to Susan L. Welch, TCCOA Chair.
“This year, we will honor five Talbot County senior men and women who have made a meaningful difference in the life our our community,” says Welch. “We welcome nominations from individual residents and also from leaders of nonprofit, civic and business organizations that have benefitted from the leadership and service of outstanding individuals 65 years or older.”
Nominations, which must be received by August 20, 2010, may be based on the individual’s lifetime achievements and service, including contributions made since reaching age 65. The five award recipients will be selected on the basis of their volunteer work, church activities, caregiving for family members and/or friends; awards or honors for professional, personal or civic contributions; providing a helping hand to neighbors; and leadership in organizations or community life. This year’s Nomination Committee members are Eleanor Hairston, Christina Mills, and Pastor Tim Jahn.
According to Welch, the annual Talbot County Senior Celebration of Life luncheon and awards presentation is scheduled this year for Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at Krystal Q, 9630 Technology Drive, near the Easton Airport.
“Talbot County has a very strong senior population,” notes Welch. “The Senior Celebration luncheon is a wonderful event that brings together many community leaders and citizens to recognize the vital role that people over 65 play in the life of our community.”
Nomination forms may be obtained by e-mailing Irene Hunter, email@example.com, or stopping by the new Talbot County Senior Center at 400 Brookletts Avenue in Historic Easton, during Center hours, to pick one up.
