Evergreen Cove to Offer Vegetable Gardening Workshops

Beginning in February, Evergreen Cove is offering a series of workshops on pesticide-free and productive vegetable gardening. “Planning your Vegetable Garden” with master gardener Hope Requardt will discuss various ways of planning a garden for the most efficient use of time and space, including companion planting, successors, and rotations.  Each participant will complete an individual plan including a list of seeds and transplants, a garden map and a planting calendar. Tuition for this class, which meets from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 6, 2010, is $35.

On Sunday, February 7, 2010, sustainable living coach and market gardener Elizabeth Beggins will offer “Beginner Vegetable Gardening.” The class will teach the basics behind raising homegrown vegetables including what to plant and when; where to get it; equipment needs; soil building techniques and other tools for garden success. Tuition for this class, which meets from 2:00 to 4:30 PM is $40.
