Marcia N. Groton, BSN, RN, has been named manager of Shore Health System’s Digestive Health Center in Easton. In this role, she is responsible for managing the staff and processes used to perform procedures that screen for and diagnose medical conditions associated with the digestive system.
Groton, who lives in Cambridge, began her nursing career in the emergency department at Dorchester General Hospital in 2000, when she was a nursing student at Salisbury University. After graduating in 2001 with a bachelor of science in nursing, she worked at Dorchester General Hospital until 2007, when she transferred to the Digestive Health Center as clinical coordinator.
A member of the Society of Gastrointestinal Nurses and Associates, Groton is currently pursuing a master of science in nursing with a focus on healthcare leadership from Salisbury University. She was a member of the first Shore Health System Magnet® Steering Committee, a group which led Shore Health System to successful achievement of Magnet Recognition in 2009. She was an officer of the Shore Health System Nursing Shared Leadership Global Council, serving as treasurer, secretary and president, and is currently chair of the safe lift team and a member of the Nursing Research Council.
