Hang Out at the Centre for the Arts

Not only does the Centre for the Arts have a spectacular gallery of fine arts hanging year round for all to enjoy, it now offers an after school program for students ages 6-12. “Hang Time” with Program Coordinator, Anne Eastman, includes crafts such as dream catchers, sun catchers, and macramé. Classes are on Thursday afternoons from 3:45-5:15 p.m., November 4 through December 9. The deadline for registration is October 28. Students will begin each class with a time to relax, have a snack and listen to a story related to the day’s craft. The cost of the class is $65 or $55 for Arts Council members and a $6 material fee paid to the instructor on the first day of class.

Eastman enjoys hanging out with her children, making crafts and having fun. She has taken numerous classes from crafters around the country including an annual pilgrimage to Camp Wohelo in Maine. She has also taught after school classes in Virginia for the Cooperative Extension Program. Deadline to register for Hang Time is October 28.

Arts Council classes are designed to renew existing interests, and to develop new skills. Registration materials are available at 206 South Commerce St. in Centreville, Maryland, Tuesday – Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, by calling 410-758-2520, online www.arts4u.info or via email at arts4u@arts4u.info The Centre receives support through a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council.
