Maryland Tourism Week Celebration at Tuckahoe State Park

Did you know that one out of every nine jobs in this country depends on the tourism and travel industry? The Maryland Office of Tourism Development reports web site visits were up nearly 60 percent in one year from January 2009 to January 2010 and there were more than 12,000 visits to, resulting in more than 2,700 requests for travel kits.

To celebrate this and other accomplishments, the Maryland Tourism Council is sponsoring an event on Thursday, May 13 at Tuckahoe State Park. The festivities begin at 9 a.m. at the Cherry Lane Pavilion with registration and an overview of the day’s fun which includes tree and perennial planting, mulching and trimming, as well as updates from staff of the Department of Natural Resources, Queen Anne’s and Caroline counties.
