The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners have been tasked by the Governor to supply nominees for his consideration for two members to serve five-year appointments on the Queen Anne’s County Property Tax Assessment Appeal Board. The deadline for application is Tuesday, June 3, 2014.
The Property Tax Assessment Appeal Board is an independent agency and not part of the State Department of Assessments and Taxation.
Nominees may not be actively engaged in real estate sales, appraisal nor hold office with a party central committee. Applicants will need to disclose for exemption any employment, professional relationships or other interests which may pose a conflict in serving on the board.
The Property Tax Assessment Appeal Board has three full-time members and one alternate member, all of whom are appointed for five-year terms.
For each county and Baltimore City, a property tax assessment appeal board has jurisdiction over all appeals in its area concerning property tax assessments, the Home Owners’ Tax Credit Program, the Renters’ Tax Credit Program, the Agricultural Land Preservation Easement Program, and other local tax matters assigned to the board for hearing.
