On Wednesday, May 12, Shore Health System is offering a free seminar on treatment options for uterine fibroids and chronic pelvic pain. The presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Nick Rajacich Health Education Center at Memorial Hospital, 219 S. Washington Street in Easton.
Eva Smorzaniuk, MD, and Frank Brennan, MD, interventional radiologists on the Shore Health System medical staff, will lead the discussion. They will present information about uterine fibroid embolization, a treatment that has helped tens of thousands of women experience faster recovery, less pain and fewer complications than conventional surgery.
Approximately 20 to 30 percent of women ages 35 to 55 have symptomatic uterine fibroids. Symptoms of uterine fibroids include heavy menstrual bleeding, painful periods, pelvic pressure, bloating, frequent urination, pain during intercourse and lower back pain.
