Queen Anne’s County Commissioners are trying to find money anywhere they can, including increasing the amount of income tax the county should expect for the upcoming fiscal year. Earlier this week, Commissioners agreed to increase projected revenue from $30-million to $31.1-million. A committee had suggested $30-million, but Commissioners instead decided to use a five year average of tax revenues. There is good reason for all this; the fiscal 2011 budget has a nearly $17-million hole in it. If they cannot close it, the county may have to stop some services and lay off workers.
