INCIDENT: MDOP (Graffiti)

ARREST: Christopher Joseph Harms (22) of Chester, MD

CHARGES: MDOP over $500 (2 Counts)

MDOP under $500 (3 Counts)

NARRATIVE: Beginning near the end of March, numerous locations I on Kent Island have been vandalized by someone spray painting graffiti on business and public building causing hundreds of dollars of damages. Leads developed by deputies have resulted in the charging of Christopher J. Harms of Chester with the crimes. Further investigation also revealed that Harms had posted pictures on the internet of many of the locations and claiming responsibility. Harms was held by a District Court Commissioner on a $2500 Bond.

Deputies are also looking for additional cases of similar graffiti that may not have been reported yet. Persons with information are requested to contact the QA County Sheriff’s Office at (410) 758-0770 extension 1262.

INCIDENT: MDOP – Graffiti

DATE / TIME: 05/04/2012 @ 2155 Hours

LOCATION: 200 Block Ringneck Court, Chester

VICTIM: Bayside Condo Association

ARREST: MALE (15) of Chester, MD

CHARGE: MDOP

ARREST: Dfc. Ambrose was advised by a citizen of several suspicious juvenile males in the area and one male wearing a backpack that rattled when he ran away. Paint smell was in the area and fresh graffiti was painted on a dumpster and two power boxes. The suspect was identified by several subjects still on the scene and when Deputies went to the suspect’s home he answered the door. Deputies noted the suspect had blue paint on his hands and when checked, his back pack had several cans of spray paint.

The boy was referred to Juvenile Services for MDOP and released to his parent.

VICTIM: Bayside Condo Association

NARRATIVE: Mr. Ron Weisman reported that sometime during the previous night, unknown person(s) spray painted graffiti on the community foot bridge behind his home. Images included “TONE” in multicolor, “TOF” and “ONE” on the stone support and either a “Z” or “$” on the other side. Damages were estimated at $500. (PHOTOS ATTACHED)

INCIDENT: MDOP

DATE/TIME: 5/5/2012 @ 1024 Hours (Reported)

LOCATION: 900 Love Point Road, Stevensville

VICTIM: Kent Island High School

NARRATIVE: School personnel discovered that the entrance sign to Kent Island High School had been vandalized. Damage included “QA” spray painted in green on both sides of the sign. In addition the sign had been shot with a shotgun using a slug and birdshot. Damage to the sign was estimated at over $1000.

A nearby resident advised that he heard gunshots at around 2115 hours on the evening of the 4th but thought it was fireworks somewhere in the community. At this time the investigation is unsure if the incident is related to a baseball loss earlier in the day, to the KIHS Prom held on the 5th or a random act.

INCIDENT: Possession of CDS

DATE / TIME: 05/10/2012 @ 2332 Hours

LOCATION: Cabin Creek Road, Grasonville

ARREST: Christopher Paul Buckingham (31) of Grasonville

CHARGE: Possession of CDS – Marijuana / Possession of CDS Paraphernalia

NARRATIVE: Deputy Wilson was checking landings in the Grasonville area and as he drove into the parking area of Cabin Creek, a blue Chevrolet pickup turned it’s lights on and began to leave. The truck was stopped and while talking to the occupants, an odor of burnt marijuana was noted. A search of the truck resulted in the seizure of a plastic container with suspected marijuana and a scale. As a result, the driver Christopher P. Buckingham was placed under arrest and transported to the Sheriff’s Office for charges and processing. A District Court Commissioner later released him on his personal Recognizance.

LOCATION: 407 Dudley’s Corner Road, Sudlersville

VICTIM: Eastern Shore Academy

NARRATIVE: Vice-Principal at the school reported that on 5/8 in was noticed that $210 was missing from its location at the school. On 5/11 he discovered that a Panasonic Camera valued at $100 was also missing. A search of the school’s lockers and other locations of the building failed to locate the items.

LOCATION: 700 Block of Chesapeake Drive, Stevensville

NARRATIVE: Resident of Chesapeake drive contacted the Sheriff’s Office and reported finding a grey colored printer, a set of golf clubs and golf shoes in front of their residence. Items were later stored in the Sheriff’s Office property room. The owner can recover the items by calling the Sheriff’s Office at (410) 758-0770 extension 1255 and provide a description of the items.

LOCATION: RT 213 @ Purple Martin Road, Centreville

ARREST: James Walter Ewing (61) of Townsend DE

CHARGE: DWI

NARRATIVE: After a 2011 Honda Civic crossed the center line almost striking a patrol car, it was stopped with the driver being identified as James. W. Ewing. After the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was noticed on Mr. Ewing’s breath he was asked to attempt several field sobriety tasks. He was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with DWI. Upon being issued traffic citations at the Sheriff’s Office he was released to a sober individual.

DATE / TIME: 05/11/2012 @ 2350 Hours

LOCATION: Corsica Neck Road near Earl Branch Road, Centreville

ARREST: David Morgan Clark Jr. (60) of Centreville

CHARGE: DWI

NARRATIVE: EMS and Sheriff’s Office responded to location after a white Ford pickup was located facing west on the east bound side of the road. The vehicle had blood on the interior and the air bags had deployed.

The driver was identified as David M. Clark of Centreville. A passenger, Kellie M. King of Centreville was also injured and both subjects were transported to the Queen Anne’s Emergency Room for treatment. While talking with the driver an odor of alcoholic beverage was present on his breath. Mr. Clark advised he had been to a party and on the way home a deer had run in front of him. Based on observations, Mr. Clark was later charged with DWI at the hospital.

INCIDENT: Burglary – Theft

LOCATION: 500 Kent Manor Drive, Stevensville

VICTIM: Kent Manor Inn

NARRATIVE: Employees at Kent Manor Inn reported finding the rear entrance to the Garden House damaged and the wine cooler there had been pried open with about 20 bottles of White Zinfandel missing. It was learned that after a wedding party ended the night before, the building was secured at about 2300 hours. Damages were estimated at $200 and the wine valued at under $100.

INCIDENT: Vehicle Collision – CDS

DATE / TIME: 05/12/2045 @ 2045 Hours

LOCATION: 300 Old Love Point Road, Stevensville

VICTIM: See Narrative

ARREST: Pending

NARRATIVE: Emergency Personnel were dispatched to location after a gold Ford Escort Station Wagon had crashed on the S/B side of Old Love Point Road. On arrival Deputy Harris found two juveniles, a female (16) and a male (17) both of Stevensville sitting outside the vehicle. The female refused medical treatment while the male was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Inside the vehicle in plain view was a 30 pack of beer with several cans open in the cup holders. Witnesses reported seeing the Station Wagon driving recklessly doing a U-turn in someone’s yard, throwing trash out, running off the road, striking trees and the fence at Kent Island High School. Witnesses also reported that a third individual a male in the rear seat, fled the area on foot.

It was noted that the 17 year old male was the driver and he had an odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath. The female stated they had been driving around drinking beer and smoking marijuana. A search of the car resulted in the seizure of the beer and a burnt cigarette with suspected CDS. The female was released at the scene to a parent.

Charges are pending lab results for the CDS and a blood kit.

DATE / TIME: 05/13/2012 @ 0041 Hours

LOCATION: RT 213, Centreville

ARREST: Caroline Alexa Koste (23) of Washington DC

CHARGE: DWI

NARRATIVE: Dfc. Jordan was in the town of Centreville when he saw a Mercedes SUV crossing the center line several times, brake suddenly and activate the turn signal but continue straight. The vehicle was stopped near Spaniard’s Neck Road and the driver was identified as Caroline A. Koste. The driver denied having been drinking and advised she was on her way to see her grandmothers grave. Field sobriety tasks and additional observations resulted in Ms. Koste being placed under arrest for DWI. After charging documents and processing, she was released to a sober friend.

LOCATION: 1108 Barclay Road, Barclay

VICTIM: Stephanie L. Jason of Centreville

ARREST: William Dwight Jason (31) of Barclay

CHARGE: Assault / MDOP / Theft / Disorderly Conduct

NARRATIVE: Deputies were dispatched to location foe a report of a man damaging a vehicle. On arrival Stephanie Jason reported that was at the location and got involved in a verbal altercation with her estranged husband. She advised she went outside the residence and began to remove the tags from a vehicle registered in her name. At that time, Mr. Jason allegedly began to slash the tires and smash the windows and tail lights of the 2001 Plymouth Neon. Ms. Jason stated that when she attempted to call the Sheriff’s Office, Mr. Jason grabbed her and threw her to the ground, grabbed her purse and fled to a wooded area at the rear of the residence.

A search was unable to locate Mr. Jason, however on today’s date (14th) he was taken into custody without incident at the Barclay residence.

NARRATIVE: Mr. Christian Wilson reported finding numerous articles place in his yard on the morning of the 13th. Included were 3 real estate signs, a landscape sign, a porcelain mushroom and frog, a bench, a plastic chair, a fern, a broom and numerous garden lamps. Mr. Wilson believes the incident to be related to his job as a substitute teacher. A canvas of the neighborhood resulted in additional reports of trash cans being knocked over and trash scattered in some yards. Most of the items belonged to neighbors on Shi Lane.

NARRATIVE: Victim reported his Honda ATC 70 ATV valued at $1000 missing from his back yard. Victim advised he had heard noises earlier in the e back yard but didn’t check it out. About an hour later he went out back and discovered the ATV missing.

QA SHERIFF PRESS RELEASES

INCIDENT: Theft

DATE/TIME: 05/03/2012 @ 1434 Hours

LOCATION: North County Area near Sudlersville

VICTIM: Queen Anne’s County

ARREST: Male (20) of Grasonville

Male (19) of Chester

NARRATIVE: County Roads Department had been contacted by an electric company employee who advised he had seen several road signs behind a residence on Everett Road. Dfc. Kellogg responded and located two stop signs and five road signs, Duhamel Corner Road (2), Busic Church Road (2) and Peters Corner Road (1).

While at the location, a resident of the home arrived and admitted that along with another subject, they had taken the signs when they were drunk one night.

Applications for charges for both suspects have been submitted to the District Court Commissioner.

** Update: On 5/7/2012 Charges were issued for Robert Colton Green (19) of Chester and Jake Windsor Riley of (21) of Grasonville charging both subjects with Theft under $1000. Riley was served a Criminal Summons on May 8th. An Arrest Warrant remains active at this time for Green.

LOCATION: 400 Block of Calvert Road, Stevensville

VICTIM: Brenda A. Cohee of Stevensville

ARREST: Donald Matthew Cohee Sr. (52) of Stevensville

CHARGE: Assault 2nd Degree

NARRATIVE: Deputies responded top residence for a reported domestic. Victim reported she was in a conversation with her son and when Mr. Cohee arrived home began an verbal altercation with her. It reportedly escalated into Mr. Cohee grabbing the victim by the arm and shoving her into a door. Victim had visible bruises consistent with her report. Mr. Cohee was placed under arrest and taken to Sheriff’s Headquarters for processing. A District Court Commissioner later released him on his own recognizance.
