The Queen Anne County Democratic Club is very pleased to announce that Dr. Carol A. Williamson, Superintendent of the Queen Anne’s County Public School System has agreed to speak at our next general membership meeting which will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at The Fisherman’s Inn, Kent Narrows, MD. Dr. Williamson will discuss the proposed 2010 – 2011 QAC Public School System budget. Upon completion of her presentation, she will be accepting questions from the audience.
The Queen Anne County Democratic Club meeting will begin with a social at 6:30 pm, with the meeting starting at 7 pm.
This meeting is open to the public.
Dr. Williamson has been involved in the education of Eastern Shore students since 1972 and came to Queen Anne’s county in July 1992 as Assistant Superintendent of Queen Anne’s County for Curriculum and Instruction and became the Associate Superintendent of Schools the following year. She has served as Interim Superintendent from January 1, 2008 until the present due to the retirement of Dr. Bernard J. Sadusky.
While serving in Queen Anne’s County, she has been instrumental in developing and implementing the Maryland Voluntary State Curriculum. She lead the effort to develop the educational specifications plans for our building program, as we have renovated and added new schools to the county. At the state level, she has both chaired or served on a number of state task forces and committees including The Maryland Writing Task Force, The Early Childhood Task Force and The Maryland School Performance Assessment Task Force.
Dr. Williamson received her Bachelors degree from Salisbury State University, her Master degree from George Washington University and her Doctorate from the University of Maryland.
Dr. Williamson resides in Centreville, Maryland with her husband, Jay.
