Young, Blind Mama Dog Needs Your Help

Every life is precious, and all the more so when it’s a Mom who has ensured all of her babies are healthy and sound, despite needing medical attention herself!

Teeny - Picture (400 x 340)Meet Teeny, ARF’s very special Chihuahua Mommy who has the captured the hearts of many during her time with us. This sweet little girl, who is approximately 6 years old and was likely used as a breeding dog, was rescued by Animal Resource Foundation from an area shelter in Baltimore City after stumbling on her in an advanced stage of pregnancy, yet thin as could be! It was also discovered that poor Teeny has two detached retinas and a cherry eye. One of ARF’s Foster Moms, who is experienced in birthing litters and working with small dogs, immediately came forward to give Teeny the love and attention she so desperately needed. It wasn’t long thereafter that Teeny gave birth to three tiny little puppies, one which sadly did not survive the birthing process. Nevertheless, Teeny still had two thriving babies to care for, and what a wonderfully attentive and doting Mom she turned out to be! Both of her babies have since been adopted, so now it’s time for Teeny’s story to have a happy ending, as well.

Before Teeny can move to a forever loving home, however, she will need surgery to correct the torn retinas and the cherry eye. While she does have some vision in her left eye, Teeny has none whatsoever in her right eye. Thankfully the success rate of retinal reattachment surgery is quite high, but time is clearly of the essence. That having been said, given that Teeny had to first care for her litter, we now have a small window of opportunity within which to restore her vision. With each passing day, the probability of her surgery being a success declines, which means she may lose her vision permanently. Our projected timeframe for this surgery is no more than 4 weeks. The surgery is of a very costly nature – an estimated $5,800 – but ARF is confident we can raise the necessary funds to make this happen!

Can you possibly open your heart and make a donation for this sweet girl? Your donation will be used entirely to cover her surgical expenses. Donations can be sent to “Animal Resource Foundation” at P.O. Box 396, Chester, MD 21619. Please indicate “For Teeny.” ARF is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, which means your contribution is tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. For more information, please contact ARF at (410) 643-8700 or email them at info@arfusa.org. Any funds received in excess of what is required for her surgery will be deposited into an account earmarked for ARF animals like Teeny that need emergency medical treatment.

We know there are guardian angels out there waiting to help Teeny and we thank you in advance for giving her the chance to see again!

$500 reward for any information that results in the safe return of Mango to Animal Resource Foundation.

At approximately 4:30 pm on Tuesday, September 25th, a couple in their 20’s (man is approximately 6′ tall, dark hair, left arm is completely tattooed, strong body) came to visit puppies.

The man and woman quickly left the center and drove away. Immediately after it was found that Mango (a male, Minature Pinscher/Dachshund mix) puppy had been stolen.

Fabulous $10 Feline Frenzy

Each spring during “kitten season” thousands of newborn kittens join the millions of cats already in shelters and rescue groups across the country. This means Animal Resource Foundation (ARF) has a vast amount of cats, ranging everywhere from cute and cuddly newborns, to mellow and mature cats.

In honor of National Pet Adoption Month, which was in June, ARF lowered its adoption fee of cats and kittens to a mere $10. Yes, you read that right – $10! This fee includes up-to-date shots, micro-chipping, spaying/neutering, and testing for FeLV/FIV. ARF is now extending this special through the month of July so we can find these precious animals the forever homes they deserve.

Are you ready to open your heart and home to the unconditional love of a cat? We have so many different sizes and ages to fall in love with! If your heart is racing and you can’t believe this fabulous special, please contact ARF at (410) 643-8700, or stop by our Adoption Center (in the Old Kent Narrows Outlets) to meet our wonderful felines. Your adoption of a cat enables us to continue our mission of being “dedicated to saving and improving the lives of animals.” EVERY life counts!

Guardian Angels Brought Them To ARF and The Community Can Help Us Embrace Them!

Do you have a plan in place for your faithful and loyal companion(s) in the event something happens to you? Sadly, many pets get caught up in the aftermath of tragic incidents because their owners innocently had no plans.

Such is the case with Honey Bunny, Chi Chi, and Cricket, when their owner – an avid animal lover and rescuer in Texas, as well as the mother of one of Animal Resource Foundation’s own volunteers – tragically passed away. These poor little innocents have felt lost, lonely, and confused ever since, particularly after they were isolated to an outdoor pen in the hot Texas heat, despite being accustomed to a pampered life indoors. When ARF heard their sad story, we couldn’t help but reach out and offer our assistance immediately.

Arrangements were quickly made to have these babies certified for safe travel, and within hours they were then flown to BWI Airport. Although they were tired and afraid from their long journey, they were instantly swept into the loving arms of ARF’s volunteers and transported to its Adoption Center. In the true style of ARF’s animal-friendly community, they have since been embraced with a great deal of love and excitement, and applications have been coming in, regardless of their older age. Do you have room in your heart and your home for the gentle love of a senior dog? If so, we would encourage you to contact ARF and submit an application for adoption! We would also encourage everyone reading this press release to have a plan in place for your own pet(s).

ARF is confident that Honey Bunny, Chi Chi, and Cricket’s beloved former owner is smiling down from where she watches, as she sees her orphaned pets finding their new forever happy endings in life with just the right families. Thank you for your part in giving them what they deserve!

Did you know that your donation to ARF goes a long way in giving animals a second chance at life and love? Once they arrive at our Adoption Center the healing process begins, but our animals are resilient and their hearts are desperately open to love. And, most importantly, ARF is committed to finding that for them. Our mailing address is P.O. Box 396, Chester, MD 21619, and your donation is tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. For more information please contact ARF at (410) 643-8700.
