Talbot Optimist Club Pledges $10,000 to YMCA of Talbot County’s Capital Campaign

The Talbot Optimist Club recently pledged $10,000 to the YMCA of Talbot County’s Capital Campaign.  The club has been a partner of the YMCA for 12 years, donating annually to its Camp Lazy Days and holding its annual Christmas Tree and Greenery Sale at the YMCA site on Peachblossom Roadeach December.  The YMCA plans to partner with the Optimist for the Optimist Annual Golf Tournament to be held on May 14, 2010.

According to Talbot Optimist Club President Suzanne Jones, “Our club’s mission aligns perfectly with the mission of the YMCA of Talbot County – to bring out the best in kids.  Since 1996, we have raised more than $200,000 to support local youth.”

In addition to the YMCA of Talbot County, the Talbot Optimist Club has supported such organizations as the A. James Clark North Easton Sports Complex, Talbot Mentors, Boy Scouts and Easton Little League.

Robbie Gill, President and CEO of the YMCA of Talbot County, comments, “We are delighted that the Talbot Optimist Club could help contribute to our Capital Campaign.  Their donation at the end of the year has helped us reach $4 million of our $5 million goal for the campaign.  We will continue our fundraising efforts into the new year to support our new Teen and Family Center, which will break ground in early spring.”
